About eDot Cloud Continuity
eDot Cloud Continuity is a premium feature of eDot’s total data backup, business continuity, and disaster recovery solution. It enables user-managed failover of all backed-up servers via the cloud, so that you can quickly get back to work from anywhere, be it your home, a temporary office, or even Starbucks, without having to set up a new network, firewall, or other infrastructure.
When subscribed to the Cloud Continuity package, it’s easy to create a virtual office that reproduces the downed network in the eDot cloud. Offsite virtualization services by other vendors require users to engage their solution provider in order to initiate the process and get it up and running. But with eDot, a user just logs into the Remote Management Console (RMC) and clicks to activate the failover.
eDot's Cloud Continuity feature automatically takes care of the complicated backend process details–rendering images, converting them to virtualized images, establishing the network configuration, and setting up the VPN.
All that’s left for the user to do is to connect to the virtual office, then continue work as usual on business files and applications. And all of this is done in a secure environment, with the highest level of encryption, a SSAE 16 certified data center, and continual backup to a virtual appliance while working off the cloud.
Then, when it’s time to failback to new servers, eDot reconstitutes and ships a new appliance preloaded with all of the backed up devices. This will include the most recent data revisions made while utilizing cloud failover. When the new appliance is plugged into the network, it will synchronize back to the cloud to retrieve any further changes that have occurred since it was shipped, and you can perform a Bare Metal Restore (BMR) to your new servers when ready.
